The Grade 1 extraction-grade vanilla beans we feature here are the top grade of beans used for manufacturing purposes. We use them to make our own premium, certified organic vanilla extracts.
They are of uneven lengths and may have a few blemishes - so they may not be the "prettiest" beans on the block. In fact, you may even find them a bit brittle, and some with "split ends." Don't worry, this is normal and even desirable in extraction-grade beans! Because the lengths and moisture content vary in these manufacturing Grade 1 vanilla beans, we cannot estimate how many beans you will get per pound. You should get more manufacturing grade vanilla beans per pound than for gourmet beans, because the manufacturing grade beans have a lower moisture content, and therefore each vanilla bean weighs less than a similar size gourmet bean.

Certified Organic means that a non-profit, state or private certification organization, accredited by the United States Department Of Agriculture (USDA), has verified that products labeled as organic meet strictly defined organic standards. Our organic products are certified by Quality Assurance International (QAI), which also meets international (IFOAM) standards of organic accreditation.
